TAPA Update

UPDATE

Robert J. Hancock, DO, FACEP
Treasurer/Executive Board Member TCEP

I represent TCEP on the Texas Alliance for Patient Access board of directors. TAPA is an organization that has one sole mission: Protect tort reform at all levels. The upcoming legislative session will likely be the largest attack on tort protection in many years. Additionally, the recent election resulted in a slight shift in the composition of the legislature, and the environment is now slightly less favorable for the protection of tort reform...

UPDATE

Diana Fite, MD, FACEP
TCEP Delegation Chair

This year's annual ACEP council meeting was held in San Diego, California., on September 29 and 30, followed by the Scientific Assembly October 1-4. This year celebrated ACEP's 50th year anniversary, so the council meeting and Scientific Assembly were particularly exciting with “extra-special” events! Texas is the third largest chapter in the college, with 22 councilors. Only California and New York have more councilors than Texas...

Most of us count on our malpractice insurance to cover our civil liabilities during our clinical encounters...

Get involved in organized medicine

REPORT

Miles Raizada MD, MBA
Young Physician, TCEP Board of Directors

If there was ever a time to get involved in organized medicine, it is now. Polls and news articles report that the top issue for a lot of Americans is healthcare. The "White Coat Invasion" has been the key to physicians' successes in the Texas Legislature since the inception of First Tuesdays at the Capitol in 2003. Our senators and representatives listen when their hometown doctors appear in their offices.
