They worked hard to protect our profession and they did an outstanding job...

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

Theresa Tran, MD, MBA
TCEP Legislative Committee Chair

Over the past 12 months, I have learned that elections matter, relationships influence legislation, and that it is critical for emergency physicians to engage in the legislative process. As I entered this legislative session, one thing stood at the forefront of my mind: to protect the free and independent practice of emergency medicine, a line that sometimes seems to get pushed further and further away from us...

CALL FOR COUNCIL RESOLUTIONS!

Dr. Diana Fite, chair of our TCEP delegation to the ACEP council, would like to remind all TCEP members that the deadline to submit resolutions for this year's ACEP council to consider is July 27 (with the rare exception of late or emergency resolutions).  Any two ACEP members together may submit a resolution.  Most resolutions are submitted by the state chapter, and if you would like the Texas chapter to consider submitting a particular resolution, then we need it by July 18 at the latest so that it can be discussed at the July board meeting.  Please contact Dr. Fite at 713-301-3564 (call or text) or at dianafite@mail.com if you would like to discuss an idea for a resolution or have her help prepare the resolution.  You may also contact any of the councilors directly, or the TCEP office at tcep@texacep.org.

The Ability to Intervene

By Lorelle Knight
TCEP Medical Student Board representative

Last week I found myself in an afternoon lecture without coffee. Fetal heart monitoring graphs would have been interesting if I'd had enough caffeine in my system or if I'd not just come off of OBGYN night shifts, but in that moment, I was having a difficult time paying attention. At some point, the lecturer began talking about umbilical cord prolapse....
