President's Message

Tuesday May 24th we were again left shocked and trying to process the news of another senseless massacre, this time affecting Uvalde. This heinous shooting targeted innocent children in their elementary school. We continue to grieve with the community and families who lost their loved ones in this unfathomable manner. I want to recognize the efforts of the medical teams and the emergency physicians in Uvalde and surrounding areas who worked against the odds to minimize the loss of life that day. They will carry with them the psychological trauma from that experience for the rest of their lives and likely never be the same. Thank you for stepping up when your community needed you most.

TCEP Connect 22 Photo Recap

Dr. McArthur moved to Dallas a few years ago from California where he was very active as a Board member.

Arthur Allison, MD

Dr. Allison was a very involved member of TCEP and served on the Board and as President of TCEP from 1979-1980. He lived in San Antonio.

Lone Star Survival

The Medical student committee was able to re-activate LSS chapters at 10 medical schools across Texas this year after the pause at the beginning of the pandemic. During the academic year there were 16 tourniquet training/bleeding control community events; trained a total of 1,180 community members across Texas.

Deadly Autocorrect!

Recently, I found myself writing a text to a physician colleague, Dr. Verma. I typed in “Ve” on my phone, pressed “return,” and began compiling my note to him. Before I pressed send, I noticed that my text was about to be sent to another attorney colleague, Ms. Velasquez, who would have thought the text was very odd and out of context. This certainly would not have been the first time I was texting with someone...

Emergency medicine claims typically involve diagnostic errors. In this case study, a patient was improperly triaged. When a claim was filed, TMLT quickly went to work and won a clear, decisive victory at trial.
